What really happens to your stomach when you fly, and top tips to prevent bloating when traveling.

Ever get that feeling after take-off that your stomach bloats up and feels like it wants to explode? There's scientific evidence and reasoning as to why. To note, having gas in a flight is totally normal.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="transparent" thickness="20"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation="" row_type="row" use_row_as_full_screen_section="no" type="full_width" angled_section="no" text_align="left" background_image_as_pattern="without_pattern"][vc_column][vc_separator type="normal" color="#c9c9c9" thickness="1" up="20" down="20"][vc_column_text]

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FLY

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="normal" color="#c9c9c9" thickness="1" up="20" down="20"][vc_column_text]You've got a cramped seat for long hours, questionable coffee water, and to top it off, a change in air pressure that your body just doesn't know how to handle. As the pressure around you decreases, the gas in your belly increases, being less constrained, so it expands. This is why you may feel bloated.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="transparent" thickness="20"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation="" row_type="row" use_row_as_full_screen_section="no" type="full_width" angled_section="no" text_align="left" background_image_as_pattern="without_pattern"][vc_column][vc_column_text]

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PREVENT BLOATING

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="normal" color="#c9c9c9" thickness="1" up="20" down="20"][vc_column_text]While changing the cabin pressure around you is beyond your control, there are a few helpful tips you can implement before and during a flight to help prevent gas and bloating from happening.

  • Pass on greasy food before flying
  • Eat easy to digest fruits or foods
  • Drink plenty of PLAIN water (non-carbonated please)
  • Avoid chewing gum
  • Stretch and move when possible

WHEN YOU'RE IN THE AIRPORT

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="normal" color="#c9c9c9" thickness="1" up="20" down="20"][vc_column_text]For the last one — STRETCH — one of my all-time favorite stretches to do is a lunge twist, wringing out your spine before or after your flight.Check out the video link below to prevent bloating and indigestion when flying doing this full sequence. No shame in finding a quiet gate in the airport to stop, drop and down dog![/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="transparent" thickness="20"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation="" row_type="row" use_row_as_full_screen_section="no" type="full_width" angled_section="no" text_align="left" background_image_as_pattern="without_pattern"][vc_column][vc_video link="https://youtu.be/c8ZSFPMYReY"][vc_separator type="transparent" thickness="20"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation="" row_type="row" use_row_as_full_screen_section="no" type="full_width" angled_section="no" text_align="left" background_image_as_pattern="without_pattern"][vc_column][vc_separator type="normal" color="#c9c9c9" thickness="1" up="20" down="20"][vc_column_text]

BEST STRETCH ON THE PLANE

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="normal" color="#c9c9c9" thickness="1" up="20" down="20"][vc_column_text]You, of course, can do this creatively seated in a plane as well. Just do the twist from a seated variation using the arm-rests to assist your twist.Here's a sequence you can practice SEATED on an airplane. No excuses, road warriors![/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="transparent" thickness="20"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation="" row_type="row" use_row_as_full_screen_section="no" type="full_width" angled_section="no" text_align="left" background_image_as_pattern="without_pattern"][vc_column][vc_video link="https://youtu.be/RUhMNFp2S6Y"][vc_separator type="transparent" thickness="20"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation="" row_type="row" use_row_as_full_screen_section="no" type="full_width" angled_section="no" text_align="left" background_image_as_pattern="without_pattern"][vc_column][vc_separator type="normal" color="#c9c9c9" thickness="1" up="20" down="20"][vc_column_text]

READY FOR TAKE-OFF!

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type="normal" color="#c9c9c9" thickness="1" up="20" down="20"][vc_column_text]I used to chew gum during flights, which was a big no-no once I got up in the air. Live and learn, warriors.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀BOOKMARK and share this post for your next trip to keep your tummy happier for healthier travels ahead.
