Inspired by The White Lotus, this post dives into why travel is more than just an escape—it's a mirror to self-discovery, privilege, and the complexities of human connection.
Why Travel? Exploring the Human Experience Through The White Lotus
Resort Collection
I’ve been getting into The White Lotus Season 3 over the past few weeks. Admittedly, Season 1 is still my favorite, but I can spend an hour a week indulging in the luxury of the Four Seasons drama series from the familiarity of my own home and environment.
What draws me in with this show is not really the story. Although there are some breakout actors and stars with incredible talent, I, the actress devour this opportunity on any given occasion. What truly has my eye is the lustrous landscape and 5-star amenities held at the resort where the production takes place.
Mainly produced on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand, season three of The White Lotus takes my mind back to the wellness travel press days exploring offshore, next level, private island style lands of Bawah Resort in Indonesia, Turtle Island in Fiji and Viceroy Los Cabos, to name a few.

In my endless study of human behaviour — stemming from a young age seeking to understand mental health issues I had, to now, every day as an actress pining scripts developing a backstory for my characters motives and justified reasons — I’m watching this series with the question in my mind: Why travel?
Why Travel?
We travel for exploration, getaways, escapes, rejuvenation, restoration, or simply to use up our vacation time.
Travel to me has always been about filling my creative bucket, and observing how others live, act, operate, suffer, find happiness, how they eat, what their culture is like, what art inspires them, and beyond. I see nature, I listen, I watch, I photograph, I write… I seek to hear and feel what nature has to share. I run in the sands, I breath in the mountain air, I graze the palms, slip on the ice and soak in the rain drops as each of the elements talk to me.

Nature and the outdoors become my gym, the oceanview balcony transforms into my meditation zone and local food sources manifest into my local Whole Foods.Healthy habits and routine stay, the environment has the opportunity to metamorphose.
The creative inspiration that comes to me when I travel is something that is beyond a dollar amount, as an artist and as a human. I gain an immense perspective on life, including their inner monologues, obstacles, scene objectives (short-term goals) and overall objectives (life-long goals). It’s fascinating to experience and a gift that I'm forever grateful for.

The Next Chapter
I miss the days of wellness travel press trips; however, I know there’s a Season Four The White Lotus that has my name on it (or something in the same vein of) where my character (on-screen and off-screen) will get to experience all that a luxury destination will have to unfold.
