The West Coast desert vibes brings a breath of balance for my soul, or doshas, or whatever elemental belief system you can relate to. Place feels naturally bueno to me. We arrived via Esperanza's personal Lincoln Navigator limo, making pick-up from the airport and getting to the resort a breeze.Esperanza is quite a large property, with rooms, casitas and villas spanning the coastal line of Cortez. Once you arrive at the entry, there's a massive entryway that hosts a fire pit that lights at night, directly overlooking the ocean. We've arrived. Llegamos.WHAT'S THE VIBE LIKE THERE?You're at a beach resort, so for the most part, it's pretty casual. A bit of an older crowd, which can work in your benefit if you want to veer from the party scene. Not a ton of kids, when we went — again, bonus, if you prefer quiet — with the occasional party people poolside. Thankfully, it's not all-inclusive, so most are capped at their own will and doing paying per drink.HOW ARE THE ROOMS?We stayed in a 3-bedroom villa, so it was expansive to say the least. Perfect (and maybe one room larger than needed) for a 7-day bleisure getaway. Zooming in the mornings, working at the office desk in the master, or outdoor table overlooking the property in the afternoon, is not a bad place to do emails from.The rooms themselves are a bit dated in decor, but overall, clean, spacious with a touch of Spanish charm.WHAT'S THE GYM, SPA AND WELLNESS AMENITIES LIKE?Two fitness facilities, both requiring reservations at the time of writing this, that had a good variety of cardio machines, weights, bands, medicine balls, and weight machines. A separate studio space is available for yoga, pilates and TRX/HIIT classes as well.Read more about the Spa at Esperanza here in a larger review I wrote for Vacayou Magazine.WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE?When you head down the long set of stairs to the beach shore, there are two open air cabinitas with swings. One morning I brought my coffee down to the deck with the swing and did my meditation there. Followed up by a proper swing, which I have not done in too many years. Almost falling off the darn thing trying to do a selfie (note to self...), but feeling the wind and the salty breeze in my face, it was liberating.ARE THERE HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS?Yes, yes and yes! And, if they don't have something you want, we had a fridge and you can order in your own food via delivery service. There's a fee, but if you'd prefer to have your own food snacking throughout the day, it's worth it. Meals, I mainly stuck to salads, greens, and steamed fishes, and the avocados! Me encantan los aguacates de México! Son ricos! WHAT WAS THE FAVORITE PHOTO MEMORY, AND WHY?When I arrived, I was texting with my Dad and he asked me if I was happy. I didn't write back in words. Instead, I sent him a selfie of my airplane ridden, tired from an early start and day oof travel, but smiling in pure joy with the sunlight in my eyes. No words were needed, you saw it in my eyes. Tied for a close second, a picture snapped of the windy stairs leading down to the beach — the stairway to mermaid heaven.WOULD YOU GO BACK, FINAL THOUGHTS?I would definitely go back to Los Cabos, hopefully sooner than later. With such a surge in new developments and even farm-to-table restaurants, I can't wait to explore and visit more in the area on the next visit.
