WHAT WERE THE FIRST IMPRESSIONS?
With a population of over 22 million, Mexico City is not the quietest of places to visit. That does not mean, however, that there aren’t peaceful spots to find within. Off the boisterous main street of Paseo de la Reforma, you’ll find in a nook the street called Rio Volga. “The idea the architect had is to find the unexpected jewel in a side street…because when you walk down the side street, you don’t expect something modern,” explains Stefano Antoniazzi, the General Manager and lead liaison at the Volga Hotel.
“When I first saw the project at the very beginning I thought, this is something I’ve never seen before. Considering the hotel where the lobby it’s not at the street level where you enter the building and you have the idea it could be it could be an office building from the outside as you saw the facade of the main building.”
FAVORITE HEALTHY DISH ON-SITE?
Every morning we ate at the ground level restaurant within the cenote of Volga. My favorite order times three? The fresh green juice, 2 plates of sliced local fruit, the chia pudding and an avocado toast that we split with fresh arugula.
WHAT WAS THE FAVORITE PHOTO MEMORY, AND WHY?
Most certainly the first arrival, not expecting the hotel to be where it is and what it is. The entry leading into the majestic staircase and grand cenote view in the middle catches your breath, while the five-star personalized welcome and treatment welcomes your traveling heart.
WOULD YOU GO BACK, FINAL THOUGHTS?
Already on the queue for American Airlines, yes! With the grand opening of the speakeasy “unplugged” bar coming soon, along with on-site classes for yoga and sound, we’re looking to film an episode of Becoming Whole at Volga as we publish!
