09 Jun Energizing Watermelon Juice to Kick Start Your Day
Looking for a cool, hydrating, cell-nourishing way to start your morning? Grab your blender, and get mixing—this juice is super easy to make, and a nice alternative to coconut water, regular water, and even your morning coffee buzz.
Watermelon is in season here in Miami Beach, but there’s only so much watermelon one gal can eat! So, time to get creative in the kitchen and find some alternative uses for it.
Whip up this sensational, energizing juice in less than 3 minutes. Here’s the ingredients, with the 3-minute instructions below.
INGREDIENTS //
• 3-4 cups diced watermelon
• 1 tsp spirulina (my favorite is PureHawaiian)
• 1 tsp (‘ish) maca powder (preferred brand, Navitas)
• 4-5 ice cubes for a chill (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS //
Put ice in first, followed by watermelon and powders. Blend, pour, sip, and enjoy! It’s that simple.
Now, for the why (because the kid in me ALWAYS wants to know why!):
Why is this juice energizing? The watermelon is extremely hydrating, comprised of over 70% water. Spirulina is nature’s multi-vitamin, packing in 2g of protein in only one tiny teaspoon. Maca powder can improve stamina, uplift your mood, and provide a boost of energy.
The spirulina IS optional, and WILL turn this drink a funny color! If the color turns you off, you can omit the spirulina and the drink will be a more natural pink, watermelon-tone color.
