WHAT WERE THE FIRST IMPRESSIONS?
The entrance to the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya is one of the most spectacular lobby entrances I’ve encountered. Massive panel wood doors that stream natural light in with the rush of cascading water in the background immediately calm you, forgetting any previous thought of the journey getting there.

Noting, to get to Tulum you’ll fly in to Cancun Airport (CUN) and even if you’re booking a private transportation through Conrad Tulum, it will take you at least 90 minutes.

WHAT’S THE VIBE LIKE THERE?
Upscale, expansive, attention to details, nature- and Tulum-inspired. Even though the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya is less boutique than the traditional Tulum hotels down the strip, it does maintain a boho luxury vibe that reminds you of the level of class you’re visiting in this slice of Mayan paradise.

Dress classy beach or proper casual during the day, depending on your activities, whether it’s lounging, beaching or dining. At night, dress up a bit more proper when visiting one of their dining options (recommending Arbolea for breakfast and brunch and either Ukai (sushi) or Maratea (Mediterranean) for evening.

HOW ARE THE ROOMS?
Home goals, with the perfect blend of blues hues mixed with white, fluffy linens and a sultry black in the bathroom. Spacious enough to move around with ease for two, and a perfect view of the cove from the balcony.

Appreciated are the touches of having a stocked fridge for sparkling and flat waters, in-room pod coffees (my mornings are that much brighter) and a couch and side table for the inevitable Zoom meeting or computer work.

WHAT’S THE GYM, SPA AND WELLNESS AMENITIES LIKE?
Massive. With most equipment you’d find in any other gym in your home, noting it’s new and top of the line as well. Glass sectioned-off rooms are available privately for yoga and spin classes. Outdoor I believe are now being offered as well. I’d personally recommend taking your cardio to walking some of the cove and beaches, but certainly make it a daily for at least 40 minutes to stretch, use some free weights or check out a class.

The spa is another beautiful area of the hotel with a separate water therapy spa, wrap-around male and female changing rooms, hot and cold plunge and a center meditation and waiting area. Stones on the beds are heated for the warmth of your body and muscles for before or after your body treatment to choose from in one of their private casitas to restore.

WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE?
The entrance truly takes you to another level. There’s a small platform that one cannot help but step up onto and break out into a yoga pose, catwalk, or selfie just to capture the view. If you’re fortunate to catch a full moon, seeing that light in the sky from the hot tub at night at the end of the central pool might be the second most memorable. Plan your moons accordingly for travel, then.

ARE THERE HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS?
Yes. The breakfast buffet at Arbolea had a plethora of fruits displayed and freshly cut, along with chia bowls, and a variety of vegetables, clean proteins and vegan options to choose from. With some of the dietary restrictions I have, it can be tricky sometimes to be understood and get it right, especially in Mexico. The Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya gets it right, and they go the extra mile to remember it the day after, so you don’t need to remind them.

WHAT WAS THE FAVORITE PHOTO MEMORY, AND WHY?
I have to sit here and pause to think, because there were quite a few to have to choose one almost seems disingenuous. That being said, the entrance way and lobby at sunset hosts warm and cool tone colors and reflections from the sun that any photo doesn’t do it justice. Still, I tried, and it’s one of my screensavers from the trip.

WOULD YOU GO BACK, FINAL THOUGHTS?
In a heartbeat. Tulum is truly one of my favorite places, spiritually and energetically, in the world. The Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya offered me well-being, respite, supreme hospitality, impeccable service, delicious meals, high-level living at every corner, and the kind of exhale one longs for when seeking a wellness destination beachside.

Since their grand opening (when I visited in early 2022) I do believe there have been quite a few additions to their well-being offerings, which I’d welcome to try out, and the opening of their massive convention center, first of its kind in the Riviera Maya.
